La Boquería (9:30am)
San José’s market (more commonly known as La Boquería) is a large and vibrant
covered market, specialising in fresh fruit, meat and fish. This enormous market, just
off the main street Las Ramblas, also has a variety of delicious drinks and snacks, so if
you want to stock up on some snacks for the bike ride ahead; this is the perfect place
for it.

Take the L1 line (red) to Catalunya stop, take the Ramblas exit, and you’ll be looking
at Catalunya Plaza, one of the central meeting points in Barcelona. There is an
information kiosk here if you wish to get a large map of Barcelona. Turning around
you’ll notice that you are actually at the beginning of the most famous street in Spain
– Las Ramblas. At this time of the morning the street performers will still be setting
up (which seeing in itself is fascinating), but as this is one of the main sites you’ll have
time to see it in full swing over the course of this itinerary.

Walk down Las Ramblas and San José’s Market will be on the right hand side, just
where Dunkin’ Donuts is. If you pass the Liceu Metro stop you’ve just passed it – turn
back!
