** Historical Building: EV Haughwout Building

While on your shopping spree, take a moment to admire the EV Haughwout Building. This cast iron giant was built in 1857 and designed by John P. Gaynor. The building mimics the Venice Sansovino Library and houses the first passenger elevator, which was designed by Elisha Graves Otis.
