Two-Day Self-Guided Walks - Cardiff

Cardiff Walking Tours gives you a chance to explore the city centre, the rural Bute Park in an urban setting and take in the marvellous sites of Cardiff Bay.

And all of this surrounded by beautifully manicured and maintained parks.

Its nightlife is legendary with many lively bars and clubs throughout the city centre, restaurants from all corners of the globe and shopping arcades of the highest order. On its doorsteps you also have the fine St Fagan’s Folk Museum, the gorgeous plains of the Vale of Glamorgan and the largest Norman castle in Europe just 5 miles up the road in Caerphilly.

Cardiff will easily fill your weekend and entertain you for a month.

Who Should Use This Itinerary?

This guide is ideal for first time visitors to Cardiff on a long weekend break but also includes enough additional information for extended walks or alternative days out should you stay longer.

The guide also visits many sites that keen fans of the BBC series Dr Who and Torchwood will be familiar with, as both of these are filmed extensively in and around Cardiff. While this is not specifically aimed at fans of the series, you will immediately recognise locations.

Itineraries

The itineraries cover two days worth of walking and discovering the joys of Cardiff. Day one covers the town centre, its tourist attractions such as the Cardiff Castle and the National Museum along with a nice walk through the parks along the River Taff and back around into the centre for some retail therapy or a drink.

Day two covers the Cardiff Bay area and its attractions such as the interactive museum Techniquest, the enigmatic Pierhead Building and a boat ride down the River Taff and across the bay.

The main costs are if you decide to take the excellent tour of the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Castle or a trip around Techniquest. Sites like the National Museum, City Hall and the Norwegian Church are all free to enter.
