I can best be described in caveman terms. I like to run. I like to eat. And I like to drink. I do consider myself a bit more complex than that, however. I possess none of the Japanese “moderation in all things,” typically assailing the center for the extremes. I’m an avowed urbanite who also enjoys the great outdoors (not a huge fan of the suburban middle) and can indulge at the corner falafel stand as much as at an upscale restaurant. I possess a few useful talents, one of which is my being a real MacGyver in the kitchen, a culinary mastermind of resourcefulness who can make a meal out of just about anything.
Like Oprah, I also have some favorite things: encased meats, landscape architecture, pork belly, hoppy ales and roasted stouts, political debates, and people agreeing with me.
Travel has taught me much about the world in which I live - how to better appreciate it, and, appreciate that I can better it. I enjoy travel for many reasons, but Mark Twain, full of quotes to live and laugh by and a personal hero of mine, defines why travel is so important: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness." I couldn't agree more. Travel on, friends.
