The Affordable Side of Singapore: A 4-Day Itinerary

Are you traveling on a tight budget? Do you like sightseeing, amazing sunsets, nature, animals, walking and shopping and taking lots of photos?

Singapore is a culturally diverse country, ranging not only from the amalgam of people who have ended up here, including Malaysian, Indian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and a range of expats from Ireland, England, America and Europe; but also in the actual architecture and districts, which will make you feel like you're in a jungle, a budget Asian country like Thailand, in the luxurious Dubai or a completely different country like India all in one country!

If you are a nature lover, Singapore has a lot to offer for free. This itinerary will take you on hiking trails through jungles with monkeys freely wandering the forest, impressive bridges; an array of flowers that will enchant you; a man-made rainforest and fascinating supertrees that make you feel like you're playing in the movie Avatar.

Though Singapore can be expensive - there are many things to see and eat without having to break the bank! This budget traveller's itinerary will give you a taste of the diverse cultures and sites in Singapore, with a few local tips and tricks on how to save money, allowing you to allocate more money towards shopping and other things.

You’ll start your adventure in Singapore walking through a jungle forest of a park where the monkeys run free, with a couple of impressive architectural bridges, a variety of parks and some amazing sights of the city. Following on you will get an introduction to the Marina Bay area before heading off to the Gardens by the Bay and then eating in one of the oldest hawkers in Singapore.

The following days will take you through the Botanic Gardens and the shopping central of Singapore, as well as the more cultural districts to give you a flavour of the diversity in Singapore.

How do I know where to take you? Having spent only two weeks on a backpackers budget in Singapore, visiting a friend who lives there, I was shown around Singapore and was able to see the tourist side of it through a local viewpoint. I was moved to write an itinerary due to hearing other backpackers and budget travelers complaining about how expensive Singapore is when they visited, so I decided to provide the best parts of the itinerary and tour that I was given while in Singapore, with some additional research on places to eat and drink.
