Breakfast at Cafe Du Monde - Every previous tourist will likely first mention Cafe Du Monde as the place you need to visit, with good reason.  The cafe is famous for its beignets (pronounced Ben - Yay!), a fried doughnut like confection - perfectly paired with coffee or milk.  The place is pretty busy from open to close, but don't be afraid to sit down at an un-cleared table as soon as a previous party leaves.  The workers are extremely fast, and there are usually a number of street performers parked in front of the cafe's seating area.
