London's a world class city, make no mistake. But sometimes London can be exhausting. So how about heading just a couple of hours to the north east, an easy drive or train ride away, to explore part of the county Stephen Fry calls home at a more leisurely pace?  And if Stephen Fry isn't impressive enough for you, try the area's Royal connection - this itinerary contains the beach where the Queen's corgis are walked when she's at Sandringham.  Look out for a little lady in a headscarf just in case!

The jewel in Norfolk's crown is its beautiful north coast, crammed full of quaint villages and broad expanses of sandy beach, perfect for unwinding after a trip to the capital. This is an area many Brits haven't yet discovered, but as soon as you visit, you'll wonder why you didn't go before.

This area's the perfect place for messing around on the water

This itinerary will help to ensure you don't miss the area's many highlights whilst also building in time for you to explore and have fun. Whether you are a couple seeking a romantic break or a family looking for a place to allow the kids to let off steam, this place will fit the bill. Foodies will want to try local delicacies like freshly harvested oysters and Cromer crab; history buffs will delight in browsing amongst Holkham Hall's ancient treasures. Nature lovers will find the charming seals at Blakeney hard to resist; arty types can try their hand at pottery and steam train enthusiasts can even drive their own engine on the North Norfolk heritage railway. Variety is key here; there's truly something to keep everyone happy.

When choosing somewhere special to stay, this itinerary gives you the lowdown on some of Norfolk's most quirky accommodation like restored windmills and haunted pubs. It suggests some of the best pub grub the area offers and scenic strolls through pretty countryside to enable you to walk off the calories afterwards. Browse in independently owned shops within traditional flint cottages - this itinerary will point you in the direction of a great souvenir or fantastic deli produce for a picnic lunch.  Whilst a hire car affords you maximum flexibility, the itinerary also shows you how to make best use of the local bus network if you choose not to drive yourself.

Have fun exploring this delightful corner of rural England but don't worry if you don't quite do it all this time - as with London, I know you'll be back!
